How many days of food and water fit in the space you have. Kit sizes and calories from maker pages, city rules from city offices.

Space planner

Enter your household and one storage space. Results update as you type. Every kit size and calorie count below links to the maker page it came from (Nov 5, 2026).

Example spaces are round numbers for trying the tool, not measurements of any real furniture. Measure your own.

-calories needed
-gallons of water at 1 gallon per person per day
-cubic feet in your space

Food kits against your space

Each row shows how many of that kit cover your calorie total, the room they take, total weight, extra water the maker says the meals need, and the cost at the price read on Nov 5, 2026. Prices change; the maker page is the real one.

Water containers against the same space

Drinking and sanitation water at the rate Ready.gov and the CDC both publish: one gallon per person per day. Prep water for freeze-dried meals is extra and shows in the food table.

How the fit check works

Cases are kept upright. The footprint may turn 90 degrees, so a 25 by 10 inch box is tried both ways across your width and depth, then stacked as many times as the clear height allows. Food and water are checked one at a time against the whole space; if both go on the same shelf, add the two room figures and compare with your cubic feet. Buckets with handles and lids may need a little more height than the printed size, and stacking limits are the maker's call, not ours.

Kits left out of the table: the 3 on the hold list and any kit with no calorie total we could confirm from its maker page.
